Hello everyone, and welcome to Alpha Flights.
Before I created this website, I was exactly where many of you might be right now: completely captivated by the thrill of FPV flight but overwhelmed by the steep learning curve. I remember the frustration of my first build, spending countless hours sifting through a dozen different websites, forums, and videos trying to piece together the basics of how everything worked. The information was scattered, and the path forward was anything but clear.
My personal struggle is the exact reason Alpha Flights exists today. I realized there was a need for a single, dedicated platform where new pilots could learn the ropes and where experts could research new gear, without all the hassle.
My name is Austin Berthold, I'm 17, and I'm the founder of Alpha Flights. This website is the first step in my mission, and it’s been shaped by both my hands-on experience in the air and my aspiration to become an aeronautical engineer. I’m building Alpha Flights to be the central hub I wish I had when I started. Alpha Flights is a place to make the world of FPV more accessible, understandable, and enjoyable for everyone.
What is Alpha Flights Today? The Foundation.
That personal mission is the foundation of everything we're building here. If you explore our main pages, you'll find comprehensive guides designed to simplify the core components of any FPV drone. We break down everything from flight controllers and motors to antennas and power distribution boards, equipping you with the essential knowledge you need to select the right gear, perform basic maintenance, and fly with confidence.
Our Flight Plan: What we are currently working on
What you can see today is just the beginning. We have a clear roadmap for evolving Alpha Flights into a truly indispensable hub for the community. Here's what's next:
1. The Community Forums The heart of the FPV hobby is the community. Our very next major update will be the launch of the Alpha Flights Forums. This will be a dedicated space for you to connect, share your builds, ask troubleshooting questions, and discuss the latest FPV news with fellow pilots.
2. The Alpha Flights Marketplace: Your Gear Hub After establishing our community, our next focus will be to simplify the most time-consuming part of any build: finding and buying the gear. This will be a two-step process.
Phase 1 - Price Comparison: We will work to partner with the best companies in the FPV industry, like Rotor Riot, GetFPV, RaceDayQuads, and more. Our goal is to list products from this wide range of websites so you can easily compare prices and find the best deals, all in one place, you will also have access to a wider range of custom and stock components.
Phase 2 - The Universal Cart: Our ultimate vision is to create a seamless buying experience. Imagine adding props from one store, a transmitter from another, and a frame from a third, all into a single cart right here on Alpha Flights. With one checkout, we would place the orders across the different vendors for you. This is a complex goal that relies on deep partnerships, but it’s a future we are determined to build.
3. The Final Frontier: The Drone Building Simulator This is our ultimate goal. We are planning a comprehensive "Drone Building Simulator"—a virtual workbench where you can pick parts, instantly check their compatibility with new and existing equipment. Plan your next build with absolute confidence. This is a massive project, so it will be the final major feature we roll out this year, but it represents our commitment to pushing the boundaries of what a resource can be.
